Entirely new renditions of each song, including the #1 hit “Mother Mother,” featuring lead vocals by seven female artists including Tanya Donelly of Belly, Rachel Yamagata and New Pornographers’ Kathryn Calder “The Burdens of Being Upright, which was released on Island Def Jam in 1996, put the young Berklee School of Music
student on the path to fame and critical acclaim as a gutsy alterna-rock chick wielding taut lyrics and a wicked violin bow.”-The Village Voice

Tracy Bonham’s 1996 debut album went Gold, was nominated for two Grammys, and featured the last song by a solo female artist--“Mother Mother”--to top the alternative charts until 2013. So when the 20th anniversary of the album started to appear on the horizon, Bonham decided to mark the occasion with something more than a rerelease.

“I wanted to revamp and refurbish the songs and put them to a modern template,” Bonham said. “To make it a creative endeavor, not just a commercial one.” To that end, the singer-songwriter with 8 full-length albums and EPs to her name enlisted John Wlaysewski of the band Late Cambrian to produce. The two knew each other from gigging together. “I dissected her songs from her first album and tried to get her to open up to what they were in their essence, beyond how they existed in a certain time period,” Wlaysewski said. “We wanted to think about these songs as if they were new,” Bonham added.

On April 17th, Lizz Winstead headlines New York City's The Cutting Room for a highly anticipated one night only evening of stand-up. This will be the first time in five years that the co-creator of The Daily Show will perform a full 75-minute set for a NYC audience. In this rare appearance, Winstead’s brings her notorious and biting political commentary to take on culture and current events that you have seen only glimpses of on her regular appearances on MSNBC.

Winstead is excited to return to perform in her favorite city on the planet: “When it comes to comedically taking on this Trump destruction, it’s mostly been through a male lens. I’ve been touring all around the country, giving my take as to what it’s like to live day to day in a patriarchal police state, and realized I had not done a major unpacking in my own city-- the city that tried to warn the country about him. But America thought it knew best. Bring on the comedy!”

Winstead’s show is a benefit for Lady Parts Justice League, the reproductive rights rapid response media hub that uses humor to the expose anti-choice forces working to chip away at access to abortion in all 50 states.
