Did you see the Moody Blues play at Radio City or Sergio Mendes at the Hollywood Bowl? You saw Julie. Did you catch Sheena Easton at the Bellagio Las Vegas, or Deniese Williams play the Greek? You saw Curtis. If you are a concert goer, you've probably seen Curtis Brengle or Julie Ragins, you just didn't know it. They have been working, touring musicians for more than 20 years. Now they are heading out on their own... together.

Curtis grew up in Seattle and after a short stint with an accordion made his way to piano, and got a BA in jazz piano performance at the Cornish Institute. He did just about every gig there was to do in the northwest, and in 1989 decided to head south. The next decade was spent on tour, doing sessions and gigs all over the world. Julie grew up in Fairbanks Alaska, and played saxophone and piano for years before deciding to come to LA to attend vocal school. Focused on being a working musician, she even learned guitar while she sang in bars, bands, studios and the road.

Nearly 20 years ago they met on a gig, and the match was made. It took a long time for them to finally decide to make a go of it on their own, but last year they founded PEAR, a powerful, eclectic duo that performs your favorite songs with a twist. The show is a great mash up, stylistically diverse and multi generational. From Adele to the Dooby Brothers, Stevie Wonder to the Great American Songbook, and even a few originals.

Bold in it's simplicity, the beauty of Julie's voice and the brilliance of Curtis' piano playing requires nothing more. "We just wanted to play music we love, have a great time, and share some pure musical joy with people" says Ragins. In a time when a "more is more" mentality reigns, PEAR's pure, unprocessed approach shows that still: less is more when done with style and substance.
